DESIGN WITH NATURE – The Role of Native Flora in Biodiversity Conservation
Speakers – Ar. Shyamkumar Puravankara – Principal Architect and Founder of Forms and Spaces, Kasaragod, and Co-founder of Myristika, Environmental Services.
This session explores how designing with native flora can strengthen biodiversity, restore ecological balance, and build resilient landscapes that respond to local climate and cultural contexts. Through real-world insights and grounded practices, the discussion will highlight the role of landscape architects in shaping environmentally responsible and future-ready spaces.
The session features Ar. Shyamkumar Purvankara, an architect known for his cost-effective, eco-responsive design approach and deep engagement with nature as a citizen scientist. Moderated by Landscape Architect Dr. Anju John, the webinar will include an interactive exchange of ideas, encouraging participants to reflect on integrating native species into design processes and everyday practice.
